Karla Ramos-Cavitt
THERAPIST
Hi! My name is Karla Ramos-Cavitt (she/her/hers) and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Virginia with a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Christopher Newport University and a Master’s in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University.
I enjoy supporting adolescent and adult women through challenging life transitions, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, self-esteem/self-worth issues and trauma. With a specialization in Perinatal Mental Health, I offer a compassionate and individualized approach in navigating the mental and emotional difficulties that come from conception, infertility, pregnancy, pregnancy loss, abortion, birth trauma and postpartum. To help with healing, I am trained in EMDR, a therapy technique that helps participants reduce the emotional distress and impact from traumatic memories or experiences. Committed to empowering participants in their healing journey, I believe everyone deserves a space to reclaim their mental and emotional health.
Additionally, I am Latina, bilingual Spanish and English speaking, and am proud of my Puerto-Rican heritage. With a special focus on supporting marginalized and BIPOC individuals who identify as women, I am passionate about addressing the unique stressors and barriers that these communities face, including systemic discrimination, cultural stigma, and historical trauma. My practice is centered on creating an inclusive and culturally sensitive space where healing can take place and where your experiences, emotions, and identity are respected and validated.
I believe in holistic care, and work collaboratively with my therapy participants to develop personalized treatment plans that align with their goals, values, and lived experiences. Together, we can explore ways to heal, build resilience, and navigate the complexities of mental health.
