You Are Not Alone

Feeling isolated in your struggles can be overwhelming. Whether you're facing anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, or major life transitions, it’s easy to believe that no one truly understands what you’re going through. But healing doesn’t have to happen in solitude. Group therapy offers a space where you can share, listen, and connect with others who are on similar journeys. In a supportive and non-judgmental environment, you’ll discover the power of community—the reassurance that you’re not alone, the strength in shared experiences, and the comfort of being truly heard.

 FAQs

  • Group therapy is a form of therapy where a small group of people (typically 6-12) meet regularly with a trained therapist to discuss and process their emotions, behaviors, and experiences. It provides a supportive environment for members to gain insight, practice new skills, and receive feedback.

  • In group therapy, members share their thoughts, feelings, and experiences while the therapist facilitates discussions and provides guidance. The group may follow a structured format (e.g., skills-based, psychoeducational) or be process-oriented, where discussions flow naturally based on members’ needs.

  • Confidentiality is a key component of group therapy. While therapists uphold confidentiality, members must also agree to respect each other’s privacy. However, confidentiality cannot be 100% guaranteed, and there are legal exceptions, such as threats of harm.

  • In the first session, the therapist will likely introduce the group’s purpose, guidelines, and expectations. You may be asked to share a little about yourself, but you can decide how much you’re comfortable disclosing. It’s normal to feel nervous at first.

  • You are encouraged to participate, but you can share at your own pace. The more you engage, the more you’ll benefit from the group, but no one is forced to speak if they’re not ready.

  • Sessions typically last between 60 and 90 minutes, depending on the format. Groups may meet weekly, biweekly, or for a set number of weeks, depending on the type of therapy.

  • It’s common to feel hesitant at first. Give yourself a few sessions to adjust. If the group doesn’t feel like a good fit, discuss your concerns with the therapist—they may suggest alternatives or another group.

Benefits of Group Therapy

Group therapy offers a powerful space for healing, growth, and transformation. By engaging with others who share similar experiences, you gain insight, support, and encouragement in a way that individual therapy alone may not provide. Some of the key benefits include:

Fostering Community & Reducing Isolation

One of the most profound aspects of group therapy is the sense of belonging it creates. Many people feel alone in their struggles, but being part of a group helps break that isolation. Connecting with others who understand what you’re going through provides comfort and reassurance that you’re not alone.

Learning from Others

Hearing different perspectives and experiences can provide valuable insights and strategies that you may not have considered before. Group therapy allows you to learn from others’ journeys, successes, and challenges, helping you navigate your own healing path with greater awareness.

Building Connections

Healthy relationships are essential for mental and emotional well-being. Group therapy encourages meaningful connections, helping you develop trust, empathy, and communication skills that can extend beyond the group setting.

Accountability & Motivation

Making changes in life can be difficult, but having a group to support you can boost motivation and hold you accountable. When you share your goals and progress with others, you’re more likely to stay committed and encouraged along the way.

Developing Social Skills

For those struggling with social anxiety, communication difficulties, or self-expression, group therapy provides a safe environment to practice and strengthen social skills. You’ll learn to express yourself openly, listen actively, and interact in ways that promote connection and understanding.

Gaining New & Diverse Perspectives

Group therapy brings together individuals from different backgrounds and experiences, offering fresh perspectives that can help you see your own situation in a new light. Hearing diverse viewpoints fosters personal growth, increases self-awareness, and enhances problem-solving skills.

Additional Mental Health Support

Group therapy can be a valuable complement to individual therapy or other mental health treatments. It provides ongoing emotional support, guidance, and coping strategies that reinforce and enhance personal healing.

By joining a group, you create an opportunity for connection, growth, and transformation in a supportive and understanding environment.
